Friday the 13th was unlucky for John T. Morgan Academy ’s hopes for a state football championship. The Senators fell to the Glenwood School Gators 35-6 at the swamp in Phenix City in a game that saw Junior quarterback Andrew Thomas knocked out in the second quarter due to injury.

The Selma High Schools Saints’ highly touted offense provided just enough scoring punch as its defense shutout Carroll High School in a 22-6 win in Friday night’s first round of the AHSAA playoffs. 

The playoff bound Selma High School Saints football team marched on toward the AHSAA Class 5-A playoffs with a 32-12 road victory over Central High School of Tuscaloosa Thursday night.

The AISA Class AAA Region 2 Morgan Academy Senators fell to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in regional play with a 56-28 loss to regional powerhouse the Bessemer Academy Rebels on the road on Thursday, Oct. 8.
