Wallace Community College Selma students seeking to earn a commercial driver’s license can now safely train driving an 18-wheeler before they ever get behind the wheel of an actual truck.

Raji Gourdine, dean of Technical Programs and Workforce Development at Wallace Community College Selma, welcomed guest and media to the unveiling of a new truck simulator for the school’s Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) Program at Craig Field Industrial Park on Thursday, Aug. 19.

The state-of-the-art device was purchased for $115,000 through an Industries Certification Initiative Grant to aid in training those looking to get a commercial driver’s license throughout the Black Belt and Selma.
