Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum kicked off his campaign for a second term Oct. 28 with a campaign rally at Arts Revive.
In a speech, Granthum thanked his supporters and said his department has worked hard but he has loved every minute of it. He talked of some of his accomplishments but said there is still a lot of work to do and that “now is not the time for on-the-job training.”
He said he is fair but firm when it comes to enforcing the law.
“This side of town or that side of town, black, white, rich or poor, you break the law in Dallas County, you go to jail,” he said.
Granthum also encouraged the crowd to vote for the person, not for a political party.
“Don’t vote for me because I coached your son or sit by you in church or helped carry your groceries to the car. Do your homework; vote for who you think is going to be best for this county.”
The general election is Nov. 3, 2022.
