2021 Alexander Shunnarah Teacher of the Month

A Payne Elementary School teacher is among 16 students to be featured on the 2020-2021 "Alexander Shunnarah Teacher of the Month" series of billboards. 

Kimberly Summerlin from Payne Elementary was one of those honored by the famed attorney's initiative, which expanded its nominations to include teachers throughout the state last year. 

Previously Shunnarah's firm had taken nominations from the Birmingham-Metro area. A page for the initiative can be seen here

Teacher of the Month nominates and showcases K-12 teachers based on the impact they make on their students, said a report by Patch.com. More than 1,200 teachers were nominated. 

In addition to having their pictures featured on billboards, each recipient received a $250 VISA gift card.

Latanya Collins – Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary (Tuscaloosa)

JaDyn Fordbelser – Arrington Elementary (Birmingham)
