The Saints Virtual Academy is now offering an independent virtual learning option through a program titled Acellus CyberSchool.

Aimed at students in grades K-5 Acellus covers math, science, social studies, language arts/reading, as well as STEM and foreign language.

Lessons are given through pre-recorded videos made by teachers from outside of the school district but students can do assignments "at their own pace" according to a message from Selma City Schools.

A parent orientation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m. at the Selma High School Auditorium.

"We are excited to be able to offer this option to our elementary families," said Selma City Schools Superintendent Avis Williams. "Please keep in mind that this is an independent learning program and scholars will need adult support at home to be successful. Join us for Open House on Tuesday to learn more and decide if this is a good fit for your child."

The steps to enroll in the program are:

Parents and guardians of students are asked to send a withdrawal form when withdrawing from a school.

Forms can be sent to the student's current school, as well as to the Selma City Schools Central Office (with attention to Mrs. Scott) or emailed to teachandlearn@selmacityschools.org.
