Walton Theater ribbon cutting

Theater Manager John Grayson and wife CeCe cut the ribbon to signal the official reopening of the Walton Theater on Friday.

The Walton Theater opened July 31 with a Back to School Bash, but now it is officially reopened. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Aug. 20 in front of the theater.

Theater Manager John Grayson, who is also the pastor of the Gospel Tabernacle Church, thanked everyone that came out to celebrate the reopening. “It was a great day. I appreciate all our family and friends that came out. I appreciate the support from the community.”

Grayson was joined by his wife CeCe Grayson to cut the ribbon. Other dignitaries at the celebration were former Mayor George Evans, who was mayor when the theater opened in 2010, Selma City Councilwoman Jannie Thomas, former Councilwomen Susan Youngblood and Angela Benjamin, District Attorney Michael Jackson, Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn, and County Commissioner Jan Justice.
