Rebuild Alababma

Rebuild Alabama signs recently went up on seven Dallas County roads set to be repaved, including this one on Highway 17.

Almost nine miles of rough Dallas County roads will be rehabilitated in 2021 using funding created by the Rebuild Alabama Act.

Seven road projects will cost a total of $1.5 million, $1 million of which will come from Rebuild Alabama or federal funds. About $320,000 will be handled under local public works.

The Rebuild Alabama Act increased fuel taxes by 6 cents per gallon in 2019, 2 cents in 2020 and 2 cents in 2021. After 2023, increases will be determined every other year based on how much the cost of construction changes. Cities and counties receive a portion of these increases.
