R.B. Hudson STEAM Academy Cicely Curtis has been nominated for the 2021-2022 national LifeChanger of the Year award, sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation.

The award is given in recognition of the achievements of K-12 educators. Curtis was nominated by a colleague, Mariama DeRamus, according to a message to media.

"She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Hudson and has worked diligently to provide support to community members through her role as a school leader," it states. "Curtis has also worked tirelessly to create an environment where scholars can not only learn, but thrive."

The message also noted Curtis' efforts during the COVID pandemic.

Curtis will represent Selma City Schools at the Model Schools Conference in Tennessee. 18 LifeChanger of the Year awards will be given, with the grand winner to receive $10,000 that will be shared with their school district.
