Using encouragement from his boss and friend who died of COVID last year, Selma native Darrell Pratt opened his own business called Pratt City Barbershop.
Pratt has been a barber in Selma for 24 years and was previously a manager of the Selma barbershop Teamwork with boss Nathaniel Johnson, known to the community as “Big Nate.”
Due to the unforeseen tragedy of losing Big Nate to COVID-19 in 2020, Pratt took on the biggest decision in his career. Pratt decided to branch out on his own and start his own barbershop after he felt the shop at Teamwork wasn’t the same without Johnson.
