Devon Gray has resigned as executive director of the Blackbelt Benefit Group, said a message released from the organization on Thursday.

"As Blackbelt Benefit Group Executive Director Devon met the challenges of managing a non-profit during a global pandemic with positivity and grace," the message said.

"The countless cancellations, rescheduling, changing grant requirements, emails and phone calls all while trying to figure out when and how to still have some events further exemplifies Devon's professionalism, positive attitude and passion for this community."

"So, it's with a heavy heart that we announce her resignation from Blackbelt Benefit Group."

The message stated that the organization will continue to put on community events such as First Saturday Selma, the Annual Chili Cookoff, Art Jam and others.
