Selma Redevelopment Authority is tackling two major downtown issues: Bridge lighting and rebranding Selma.
Meeting by teleconference due to the coronavirus pandemic on Sept. 17, the SRA board of directors voted to send a letter to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) Legal Bureau stating that the SRA is working with the Edmund Pettus Bridge Lighting Project. The project is intended to provide “architectural lighting in such a fashion to afford nighttime viewing of this historical structure.”
The letter to ALDOT will make it clear that while SRA is a major player in the lighting project, it is not responsible for any costs associated with the project.
