In a message released to media today Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama announce that it has made $250,000 available for 25 schools in the state to apply for its Be Healthy School Grant Program. 

Grants of up to $10,000 will be given to selected schools with students enrolled in grades K through six. 

“We continue to see the positive impact of the Be Healthy School Grant Program in schools across our state,” said Jeff Adams, Community Relations Manager, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. “The ongoing success of our school grant program validates the investment we are making in the long-term health of Alabama’s children.”

The grants are aimed at implementing programs that emphasize exercise and nutrition for students. According to the press release, Blue Cross and Blue shield has awarded $2.1 million to schools that have taken part in the program.
